Lens Reviewed: Non-macro Performance on D800 (Camera TIFF)

Analysis was performed using a wall target. The Micro-Nikkor 200mm could not be tested (imaging distance constraints)

All of the lenses perform well from f/5.6 to f/8.

All images were Nikon camera TIFF rather than the raw format used as the starting point for macro analysis.

Note: The wall chart used is a high resolution SFRplus (Imatest Design) ink-jet chart with an active area of 120 x 64cm. This chart is sufficient for sensors up to 24MP. The D800 has an optical low pass filter and as a consequence the images are less sharp than would be expected with 36.3MP (compared with its D800E sibling). The maximum resolution of lenses observable with this chart is probably close to the 3500 lw/ph resolution seen with many of the lenses
