As a keen amateur photographer living in Melbourne, Australia, I'm interested in macro photography and optimizing my Nikon equipment for the best results. 

Initially I started performing analysis of macro lenses for my own use with one imaging target but then realized that this is not generally available because it involves special imaging targets. With time on my hands with the COVID-19 lockdown in Melbourne and unable to travel,  I decided to expand my analysis and share this information.

Without a big budget I set about setting up and analysing my collection of macro lenses using equipment at hand with some DIY equipment. All lenses reviewed were purchased retail. I purchase new gear primarily from Vanbar and second-hand from Camera Exchange. There will be some lens to lens variability and inevitably measurement error so please use my data only as a guide.  I hope to add additional information on flash units for macro and additional lenses when they become available, particularly the new Nikon Z series macro lenses when available.
