When the lens is stopped down for macro photography to achieve depth-of-field the resolution becomes diffraction limited at f/16, so there is no practical benefit with the smaller sensor pixels in the Z8.

This does not apply for focus shift stacking macro photography where perhaps f/4 to f/8 could be used with the Z8.
