D800: x 0.41  x 1 (with PN-11)

D850: x 0.41

This lens achieves a maximum magnification of x 0.5 alone but with the extension tube PN-11 designed for use with this lens achieves x 1 (1:1).

At x 0.27 on a D500 this lens has performance on par with other more modern lens reviewed. This lens first introduced in 1983 is solid and well made and purchased second-hand is a possibility for macro on a budget.

Distortion: This lens exhibits moderate distortion of between 0.05% to 0.2% pin cushion on a D500 and a slightly higher 0.16% to 0.334% pin-cushion on a D800.
